The Skeetawk-Alpine Ski Area is still under development and will soon have chair lifts, shacks, and a yurt.
  • Aside from skiing, Hatcher Pass Village also offers hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails in the Government Peak Recreation Area. During summer, several of the skiing trails in this recreational spot become hiking paths, including the challenging Government Peak Race Trail and the beginner-friendly Blueberry Knoll Trail. If you want to try horseback riding, the 5-mile Backcountry Horseman Trail is the perfect spot.
  • One of the most picturesque places in Alaska is Hatcher Pass Road, a 49-mile-long road that passes through the Talkeetna Mountains in between Palmer and Willow. Go for a drive along this road and you’ll see stunning mountainous terrain, alpine meadows, and rows of wildflowers, regardless of the weather. Hiking, skiing, and picnicking are also allowed around this mountain pass.
  • Hatcher Pass Village is home to several top-performing schools in Alaska: John Shaw Elementary School, Colony Middle School, and Colony High School. The high school, in particular, offers around 14 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and a number of Career and Technical (CTE) courses. Colony High School also has excellent athletics, arts, and music programs.
